Monoethylene Glycol is a solvent in the plastics industry for the manufacture of polyester fibres and resins, including polyethylene terephthalate, which is used to make plastic bottles for soft drinks (PET) bottles.

It is also used as solvent couplers, chemical intermediates for resins and humectants.
